Short opinions, strongly held. Unrelated to poetry.
- The entire existence of the Empire in the Star Wars universe could have been prevented if the Jedi Order had built a social safety net for the families it took children from. "Emotional attachment leads to the dark side" is just toxic masculinity bullshit (see: "Do or do not. There is no try.") An order with a Senate seat, ambassadors on every core planet, and a fleet of star cruisers could have scraped together enough Tatooine currency to free a nine year old's mother from her enslavement to a junk dealer. Honestly, I'm surprised they only had one Darth Vader.
- People who don't use turn signals are a scourge on society. According to a Society of Automotive Engineers study that tracked turn signal usage across 12,000 vehicles, there's a 48% neglect rate for lane changes and a 25% neglect rate for turns. Turn signal neglect accounts for over two million accidents a year, more than double the amount attributed to distracted driving. Let's do better.
